The old side lights looked weak and an orange tint to them.

Tried LED bulbs but the cheap ones trip a fault on the cars CANBUS. You can get LEDs with an inbuild resistor to fool the CANBUS but these dont always work.
Some online sellers actually say 'might not work with high end German cars'!
In the UK `LED` bulbs not legal for some automotives uses.

Found that high quality bulbs can produce a nice white light.

 

There look very nice and clear white light. They cost a lot more (approx £13 for 2 bulbs) than the standard bulbs (approx £4 for 2 bulbs) but worth it.
